Neuro Linguistic Programming is the fastest growing psychological intervention of recent years.

This is because NLP is extremely effective and, compared to conventional counselling and psychotherapy, change can take place very quickly.

This is because NLP does not delve into the psyche to understand the whys and wherefores of problems that you are facing; NLP simply takes the symptoms you are experiencing and changes them.

This does not neglect the underlying psychology, because it presupposes (correctly) that the underlying psychology will automatically change once the brain understands what you want to achieve.

This gives NLP a major advantage over conventional Counselling and Psychotherapy: in that you do not have to re-live and understand your reactions to traumatic events of the past to be able to change your reaction to them in the present. For victims of violent and upsetting experiences, this is a major advantage.

Sometimes a client prefers to re-live an event, to ensure that they truly feel that it has been dealt with, and if this is the case, with NLP it can be done in a way that de-sensitises i.e. takes the stress out of re-living it so that it can be done thoroughly and calmly.
